Character Info
Fandom: Doctor Who
Name: The Rani (3rd incarnation)
Gender: Female
Age: Over 1,000
Species: Time Lady
Personality: She is a great scientic mind, driven by her need to discover how different species work and function. Her research is the most important thing to her, though she is a little more ethical in her research, largely thanks to Donna's presence. While her canon incarnation was considered evil though not in the tradionial sense of the word, she does not want power, only knowledge, this Rani is much softer Also unlike her previous self she has feelings, something she is less than happy about. She doesn't talk a lot about her feelings, or what happened during the War, in fact she barely talks about her feelings at all, since she's so unused to having them. Still she is slowly getting used to this, but without Donna it's entirely likely the Rani would go to her old ways.
History: Background: The Rani (then known as Ushas) attended the Academy at the same time as the Master and the Doctor (as well as some other less well known Time Lords). She was one of only a small number of Time Ladies that was granted admission thanks to her superior intellect. She became friends with the two of them (canon suggests she and the Doctor had a relationship during this time) and more than likely helped them with their homework since she has always been the most academically driven. Canon has said the Doctor failed a number of his tests, so it makes sense the Rani helped him out a little, also it’s likely the Master was more interested in causing trouble than doing work. It’s my belief they originally allowed her to hang around with them because she was so clever, while she hung around with them because they were popular. Her main interest has always been in biochemistry and she was exiled from the planet after one her experiments went a little out of control and the lab mice she was working with grew so large one of them ate the president’s cat. During her time in canon she has visited Earth to take the chemicals from the human brain that induce sleep (she met the sixth Doctor and the first possessed version of the Master after he’d run out of regenerations). She also accidently killed the 6th Doctor after she shot his TARDIS out of the time vortex because she wanted to use him for an experiment on time she was carrying out (she’d already managed to kidnap a number of genei) This was the last time she was seen in canon.
My version of the Rani regenerated after the planet of Bleeth which she had taken over owing to its large number of resources and over population (both of which were helpful in carrying out her experiments and finding ‘participants’) was blown up in order to stop her. She almost managed to escape, in fact she was in her TARDIS and trying to escape but the shockwaves from the explosion damaged her TARDIS and killed her. When she awoke she was on a nearby but uninhabited planet. Soon after this, after managing to repair the damage she began to travel again. As it turned out her timing couldn't have been better as the Time War had just started and she was called back to fight. Waiting a while, as her race had never done anything for her she finally returned and as the War ended she was the only one, having to destroy the whole planet to stop the War before other planets and races got involved.
In her universe the Rani took over the Doctor's fate in ending the war. Shortly after this she ended up drifting though a rip in universes (the one that brought the cyber men into the Doctor's universe) It was in this universe that she sensed another Time Lord and came across Donna Nobel, which the knowledge of a Time Lord barely hidden inside her mind. While the Doctor had tried to fix her he had done so my erasing her memories. The Rani with her intellect and chemical knowledge managed to do a better job, allowed the woman to keep that Time Lord part of herself without the risk of death. The pair now travel together.
Third Person Sample: I'm already playing Annie, do you still need this?

Played-By: Jennifer Connelly
Room Preference: Any, although her Tardis will in theory be on the ship when it returns and she'd quite like to stay there.
