Character Info
Fandom: Doctor Who
Name: The Rani (3rd incarnation)
Gender: Female
Age: Over 1,000
Species: Time Lady
Personality: She is a great scientic mind, driven by her need to discover how different species work and function. Her research is the most important thing to her, though she is a little more ethical in her research, largely thanks to Donna's presence. While her canon incarnation was considered evil though not in the tradionial sense of the word, she does not want power, only knowledge, this Rani is much softer Also unlike her previous self she has feelings, something she is less than happy about. She doesn't talk a lot about her feelings, or what happened during the War, in fact she barely talks about her feelings at all, since she's so unused to having them. Still she is slowly getting used to this, but without Donna it's entirely likely the Rani would go to her old ways.

History: Background: The Rani (then known as Ushas) attended the Academy at the same time as the Master and the Doctor (as well as some other less well known Time Lords). She was one of only a small number of Time Ladies that was granted admission thanks to her superior intellect. She became friends with the two of them (canon suggests she and the Doctor had a relationship during this time) and more than likely helped them with their homework since she has always been the most academically driven. Canon has said the Doctor failed a number of his tests, so it makes sense the Rani helped him out a little, also it’s likely the Master was more interested in causing trouble than doing work. It’s my belief they originally allowed her to hang around with them because she was so clever, while she hung around with them because they were popular. Her main interest has always been in biochemistry and she was exiled from the planet after one her experiments went a little out of control and the lab mice she was working with grew so large one of them ate the president’s cat. During her time in canon she has visited Earth to take the chemicals from the human brain that induce sleep (she met the sixth Doctor and the first possessed version of the Master after he’d run out of regenerations). She also accidently killed the 6th Doctor after she shot his TARDIS out of the time vortex because she wanted to use him for an experiment on time she was carrying out (she’d already managed to kidnap a number of genei) This was the last time she was seen in canon.

My version of the Rani regenerated after the planet of Bleeth which she had taken over owing to its large number of resources and over population (both of which were helpful in carrying out her experiments and finding ‘participants’) was blown up in order to stop her. She almost managed to escape, in fact she was in her TARDIS and trying to escape but the shockwaves from the explosion damaged her TARDIS and killed her. When she awoke she was on a nearby but uninhabited planet. Soon after this, after managing to repair the damage she began to travel again. As it turned out her timing couldn't have been better as the Time War had just started and she was called back to fight. Waiting a while, as her race had never done anything for her she finally returned and as the War ended she was the only one, having to destroy the whole planet to stop the War before other planets and races got involved.

In her universe the Rani took over the Doctor's fate in ending the war. Shortly after this she ended up drifting though a rip in universes (the one that brought the cyber men into the Doctor's universe) It was in this universe that she sensed another Time Lord and came across Donna Nobel, which the knowledge of a Time Lord barely hidden inside her mind. While the Doctor had tried to fix her he had done so my erasing her memories. The Rani with her intellect and chemical knowledge managed to do a better job, allowed the woman to keep that Time Lord part of herself without the risk of death. The pair now travel together.
Third Person Sample: I'm already playing Annie, do you still need this?

Room Preference: Any, although her Tardis will in theory be on the ship when it returns and she'd quite like to stay there.

Fandom Character

Character Name: The Rani (3rd regeneration)
Character Age: 1,176
Point in Canon: Many years after she was last seen onscreen, but about up to date with current Doctor Who canon, not that any of that really effects her because she's not a big of Earth so in unaffected by the happenings involving the planet.
Birthday: N/A
Brief History: The Rani attended the Time Academy with the Doctor and the Master, one of few female Gallifreyan's admitted. She was always one of the more brilliant students, a true Gallifreyan academic who spent nearly all her time studying for both her academy classes and for her own interest. Her main focus was always biochemistry, though she was more than capable in all subjects. After graduating from the Academy she stayed on her home planet and worked as a scientist, though after one of her experiments grew out of control and eat the president's cat she was exciled under armed guard. The Rani however overpowered and drugged said guards, taking control of the TARDIS and dumping them on a nearby planet. She then spent much of her time taking over planets and using the inhabitants as unwilling participants in her experiments and occasionally as minions, doing the dirty work and heavy lifting. She eventually ended up on Earth durng the industrial revolution at the same time as the Doctor (6) and the Master (in a body he had stlen, having run out of regenerations) using this violent time to mask the side effects of her own work, removing chemicals from a number of human males to take back to the planet she was ruling over - Miasimia Goria which she left in a state of chaos owing to a slight oversight on her part.

Shortly after this The Rani accidentally caused the 6th Doctor to regenerate into the 7th, after trapping his TARDIS and forcing it to crash land.

Having escaped both run ins with the Doctor the Rani continued to travel through time and space taking over apropriate planets, using up their people and resources before moving on. However she underestimated the inhabitants of one planet she was ruling over and rather than put up with her rule thy blow up their own planet, something the Rani discovered just before the whole planet was destroyed. She used her TARDIS to get away, but the aftermath of the explosion caused her to regenerate into the body she is currently in.

This new body was a little different to her previous one, which was completely amoral, unfeeling and focused only on her science. Whilst she is still incredibly self-serving and driven she now suffers from a number of rather annoying emotions. Because of this when the Time War stated between the Time Lords and the Daleks the Rani returned home to fight in the war. However when it was clear all was lost the Rani escaped in her TARDIS, as far away as possible. Unfortunately for her this meant she used very last chance to move into a different dimension before the Time Lord's died out and she ended up in the Mirror Universe.

In the Mirror Universe the Rani continued her old activities, until the Terran Empire took a rather hard view on 'war criminals' though she would always deny this was what she was, and that she was merely a scientist seeking to improve the universe. She too was imprisioned, her TARDIS and the remote control she created taken from her. While imprisioned she met Kira Nerys and was part of the prison break. Thus she too finds herself back on Earth, in her own reality, without her TARDIS, but in a time where space travel still exists. Her current plans are to get herself some form of craft with the capability of crossing dimensions in order to retrieve her TARDIS, in the meantime though she is happy to bide her time, since it really isn't much of an issue when you're a Time Lady.

Name: The Rani (2)/Ushas
Age: 902
Height: 5 feet 8
Point taken from canon timeline: Some time post canon for the Rani, currently about in line with the end of Series 3
Brief Personality Description: She is a great scientic mind, driven by her need to discover how different species work and function. Her research is the most important thing to her, she does not think about the consequences of her experiments and only sees people as research tools. She is evil, but not in the tradionial sense of the word, she does not want power, only knowledge. Also unlike her previous self she has feelings, something she is less than happy about.
Brief History: The Rani (then known as Ushas) attended the Academy at the same time as the Doctor (then known as Theta Sigma) and the Master (then known as Koschei). The Rani (being an exiled Time Lady, like the Doctor and the Master) was not on Gallifrey when the war broke out. She was on another planet that she had managed to take over and turn into a massive research lab. She felt the war owing the her telepathy with other Time Lords (she wouldn't normally be able to feel something from so far away but the anormity of what was happening made the field much stronger). The thought of going to help her planet didn't even occur to her, they had sent her away so why should she risk her own neck for them?
